Never a dull moment …

Well, not much has happened since my last post … Oh yeah forget that I have had surgery since then.I am sure that any medical related update that you all are waiting to hear doesn’t involve me at all, but involves Lorraine and the birth of our new baby.  Well that has not happened yet, but I was able to squeeze some medical drama into the mix by being rushed into emergency surgery on my appendix a week ago.  I had been feeling sick for the previous several days, and then, all of the sudden, I wake up on Wednesday morning with the most unbearable pain that I have ever had in my entire life.  Yes, this is a bold statement, but I assure you that it is true.  I immediately had Lorraine take me into to urgent care to see if it was caused maybe by one of those pesky parasites that countries like Haiti bless people with (especially since my brother had went gotten sick from a parasite he picked up in Mozambique the week before I got sick).  Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on how you look at it) it was not a parasite and so they sent me on to the emergency room where I spent about 6 hours in a very uncomfortable chair to find out that I had Appendicitis, and I needed to have an Appendictomy asap.  They ended up scheduling me for this surgery, despite my rampant fears, for the same evening, and all went well.  I am appendix short, but much healthier.  Even though surgery was the last thing that I wanted to have to go through in this time of waiting, I feel very blessed that this happened now before it got much worse and we would be in Haiti.  The Lord knows what he is doing so now we must sit, wait, and relax until the newest addition to the family gets here.It has been a crazy time for our friends in Haiti too, though, with all the hurricanes coming in line up through Haiti.  Fortunately, all the reports that we have heard are that everyone at Sonlight is doing awesome.  We would ask that you pray for them and their safety during this hurricane season, and during the rising food and oil costs over there.
