The Jones Family

Hey everyone!  It has been a couple of weeks since I last updated, and so it is time I give everyone an update now.  Some of the hold up has been that we have been waiting on some information before we decide how the next month or so of our lives is going to go, but we now have some answers.  We also have some exciting news!

I, first, want to start out with the exciting news!  My brother and his girlfriend Julianna got engaged last Friday night.  This is obviously something that is exciting for the whole Jones Family, but it is personally very exciting for Lorraine and I.  The wedding it looks like will be at the end of February, which hopefully will work out great for us, because of getting a week off in Haiti for Mardi Gras.  Now, obviously, being in a country like Haiti nothing is set in stone for us, but we will be keeping our fingers and toes crossed that Lorraine and I will be able to make and be part of their wedding.

Secondly, about a week ago my mom and dad officially moved from Arizona to Virginia and arrived last Friday afternoon.  My dad had already left, but my mom was staying until the house officially closed, and so she could spend some time here with her new grandson, more importantly.  My dad then flew back, and was here less than 24 hours to drive her back.  The exciting part about this was that my dad for the first time got to meet Micah.  I know that he would have loved to have more time with Micah, but he will hopefully get that in at the end of the month.

Thirdly, Lorraine and I have been desperately trying to figure out when it will be when we officially fly back to Haiti, so that we can plan our cross-country trip to Virginia.  Our hope was that we would get to spend some time with family along the way, and spend a good amount of time with my parents in their new home and at their new church, but until we knew the date of departure we did not know if that was going to be a reality.  At first it looked like we may have to go back to Haiti before the time we expected; but after we got it all sorted out, the date turned out to be the date I originally expected.  Essentially, we will be leaving the states for Haiti on the 8th of November, and we will be leaving Arizona to drive somewhere around the 20th of October.  Our time to leave both places are vastly approaching and so we are trying to enjoy things here why we can.  With the date being the 8th, though, it makes it pretty much certain that we will be able to drive through NC on the way to VA to see Lorraine’s family and some of our friends, and so that is very exciting.

Fourthly, the situation at our mission in Haiti has been pretty crazy.  They were recently without power for about 2 full weeks, which for most of them meant no electricity, no internet, no AC, no fans, no running water, no showers, and no toilets.  Craziness I know!  Basically, both of the generators they had broke down, and the new one was delayed in coming from Miami.  The new generator is going to cost Sonlight around 25 to 30 thousand dollars, because of the cost of the generator, and because of the cost of getting it off the boat through customs.  So Sonlight is having to try to raise this money, because it was an expense that was definitely not in the budget.  To make matters worse the State demanded that the Academy stop holding classes until October 6, and so they were out of school for about 2 weeks.  Things have definitely been crazy for Haiti, Sonlight, and the missionaries, and so I humbly ask that you keep them in your prayers.

Lastly, I have been preparing to preach!  I have been bestowed with the honor of preaching at CCCG this weekend.  My message will be two-fold: firstly following in line with the rest of Dave’s current series, and second information about Lorraine and I with Sonlight.  I am very excited to preach and also nervous, but I know God is in control.

Lorraine and Micah are doing fabulous for those of you, who may have been wondering, and below is our first real family picture.  Please enjoy!

Blessings

Kyle & Lorraine
