Going Back to Haiti!!!

As many of you already know, Lorraine, Micah, and I will be going back to Haiti with Sonlight Ministries in just three days now.  The summer has been long, and in many different ways a struggle, and so we are very strongly looking forward to going back to our home in Port-de-Paix and continuing the work that the Lord has called us to …

Ultimately, it has been a good summer, but there has been some frustrations that we have had to deal with.  One of the main frustrations has been my own personal sickness.  I think I wore my body out with traveling and all the work we did, and I am pretty sure I had a rehashing of mono like I have had before.  It started off with fevers and such, and then morphed into ear infections and allergies, and then finally led to a lot of bodily weakness and weariness.

Another hard part about the summer has been our support raising.  We haven’t had much luck in raising the support we need, and although we are fairly close we still need about $1000 more a month.  The problem, of course, has been the economy.  Several of our supporting churches are struggling, and we have had both churches and individuals cut our support drastically down, or completely off.

Also, we have had very little luck getting support from individuals – especially our friends.  One of our friends recently told us it is OK to be straightforward and ask when we have a financial need, and so that is what we are doing now.  We could really use your financial partnership with our mission to Haiti this year, and so please consider supporting us.  If 100 people (which we are sending it to more than that) could do just 10 dollars a month that would be the money we need to do our work in Haiti this year.  Certainly, though, you could give more than 10 dollars a month, but that is just an example how it could happen.

We are very excited about what the Lord has for us to do in Haiti this year, and we are going to Haiti with an excitement for our work and trust in God to provide.  If you are interested in supporting us, but have questions or concerns – let us know.  We want to make it as easy for you as possible.  This might be letting you know about the tax benefits to supporting us, having us send you 12 envelopes with our address on it, or helping you find a way to use online bill pay, please just let us know if we can make it easier for you, or answer any questions.
