We’ve Arrived!!!
Well, it has been a long and tiring summer, but we are officially back to our home here in Haiti. We have to admit that it feels very good to be settling into one place for an extended period of time. Our nomadic ways this summer were much more exhausting than normal, and if we had to guess why we would clearly give the credit to our son. Micah is a great traveler, but nonetheless, traveling with an infant is a whole new ball game …It feels good to be back to! We have a certain comfort in coming back this time that I don’t think that we have had before, but I think with most things the second year is always a little better and easier than the first year. With this in mind we are really looking forward to a great year!
Currently, and for the next several days we are going to spend our time getting our house all set-up and functional for this next year. This does take some time, because there are usually maintenance things that need to happen, as well as just some homemaking things to make it feel more comfortable. This process, though, offers freedom in that we can do as we feel up to it, and relax and get some much needed rest when we need it too. School officially begins in two weeks from today, so after our focus on our house is over, we will turn our attention to our classrooms and our planning. Once again, this is something we look forward to, because we can do it at our own pace, and get plenty of rest in between.
As we have said, we are very tired and in need of some good rest and some quality family time, but we say this not in a way that casts a negative light on our summer. We actually had a wonderful summer! We got to spend ample amounts of time with our family, friends, and supporting churches, and we were able to go to many new churches and meet lots of very sweet and genuine people, and for this we are blessed and grateful. The life we live is certainly busy, crazy, and hectic at times, but we have hundreds of wonderful people around us – supporting us that make it much easier and much more manageable; and so for that we say thanks!
