Well we have been in Haiti for about a week now and we are starting to really feel like we are getting settled back into everything. Today was especially good for that too, because we are able to get our official teaching schedules for the year, and thus be able to officially start looking at and planning our days both considering our teaching needs and considering our taking care of our son needs. I must admit too that it looks like everything is going to work out fabulously.Being back in Haiti is much less of an adjustment this time around too. I definitely think that we are much more used to it and we feel completely comfortable here. This is a great thing, because it is one less adjustment we both have to make. We are slowly getting ourselves and Micah back into a normal routine, which is helping out with so many different things. We have also tried to be hospitable to the other missionaries couples who are in for the first time or who came in a little later than usual by providing meals and friendship. We are also trying to get our meals and everything set up and figured out, so that next week we can really hit the ground running. All in all, I must say that we are most assuredly getting ourselves settled back in, and ready for another year in Haiti.
We know that the Lord used last year and this summer to teach us many important lessons, but none more important than the importance of prayer in our every day lives. This certainly sounds cliche or cheesy, but it is said wholeheartedly. We realized more than ever that we need to be praying people, not only for ourselves, but for our ministry, and for our friends and family. We all have the potential to do amazing things with the help of the spirit of God, but we very rarely channel it through the power of prayer, and so as we are settling in this year, we are trying our best to begin on a foundation of prayer, and consequently it has encouraged and given us twice the excitement for this forthcoming year.
Before I finish with this post, I have to share some exciting news: Sonlight Bible College will be employing its first Haitian Professor this year, and there is a chance that we may have two. This is truly remarkable considering we lost a professor last year to the states and so we were going to be a little short on staff this year, but it is even more exciting considering that this is the ultimate goal of the program – to sustain the program long-term by the use of Haitians themselves. This year may have its moments, but we certainly are looking forward to what God has in store.

You’ve got our prayers! I’m so glad you are seeing good things so soon in to your fall semester! We will join you in prayers for your family, your Sonlight family, and the professors, teachers, and students! We love you and know you are making the difference so many of us dream of making but lack the courage or resources to accomplish!
